Give each student a piece of bubble gum.
Let the students chew their gum and
blow bubbles with it for a few minutes. Then take the trash can around the room
and have each student spit his/her gum into the trash.

Talk to students about the importance of not littering anything, including gum! |

Read the "GUMFOUNDED" book to students. |

Teach students about recycling. Check out the LINKS section of our web site to
find interesting facts about recycling. |

Teach students the song found at the back of the "GUMFOUNDED" book,
entitled, "I Will Recycle". |

to copy this and any other pages offered in this section. |
This method of teaching children to STOP LITTERING and START RECYCLING
has proven very effective. Just don't gum up the lesson by making it too long! You
too will have a positive experience teaching the value of respecting our environment
to your students.
